At Dowerin District High School, student leadership is a cornerstone of our school culture. We believe in empowering students to take an active role in shaping their learning environment and contributing to the wider community.
The Student Leadership Team, comprising Class Representatives and Faction Leaders, plays a vital role in shaping school initiatives and decision–making. Supported by staff coordinator Emma Grant, the team leads a variety of activities including inter-faction events, student–staff challenges, and the hosting of formal school assemblies. They also champion important causes by organising charity days and fundraising efforts, supporting organisations such as the Breast Cancer Foundation and our sister school in Cambodia through the Angkor Project. These initiatives foster a strong sense of global citizenship and community responsibility among students.
Faction Captains
Each of the two factions, Stirling and Forrest, has two Faction Captains.
Class Representatives
A student representative is elected from each class from Year 4 to 10. The election process is decided by each class, with nominating students being required to make a speech to their peers outlining why they should be elected. Class representatives meet at lunch times.
