Independent Public School
Dowerin was selected to become an Independent Public School as part of the third intake of schools, commencing in 2013. Independent Public Schools are still part of the public school system and must comply with relevant legislation, industrial agreements and whole of government policies and initiatives.
All Western Australian public schools are reviewed by the Department of Education’s Public School Accountability directorate – usually every 3 years. A review gives assurance to the local community, the Minister for Education and the Director General about the performance of public schools in delivering high quality education to students. The review acknowledges the achievements of the school and gives feedback to support the Principal and staff with their improvement planning.
Following our most recent review in Term 3 2023, the following statements against each domain reviewed:

Annual Report
The School Improvement and Accountability Policy requires that schools publish annually a School Report that describes the schools performance. The school report is intended to give parents and other members of the community a clear sense of how the students in the school are progressing and what is being done to maximise student achievement.
To arrive at this report and strive for continuous improvement, staff spend a great deal of time analysing data and reflecting on teaching and learning practices.
