Annual Events

Dowerin Field Days

The Dowerin Field Days is Western Australia’s premier agricultural event, transforming the town into a bustling hub of over 20,000 visitors. It serves as a vital source of information and inspiration for farmers, primary producers, agricultural workers, and their families—fostering meaningful engagement and connection within a vibrant community setting. Held annually on the last Wednesday and Thursday of August, the 2025 event will take place on August 27th and 28th. Dowerin District High School plays an active and valued role in the festivities.

Our Field Days Trail, coordinated by a staff member, allows primary students to engage in a series of structured, educational activities across various exhibits. Teachers develop tailored schedules that align with student needs and ensure appropriate supervision and documentation. The Year 3–6 Choir proudly performs the National Anthem and an additional piece at the official opening ceremony, typically held at 11:00 AM on the Wednesday. Secondary students are also involved through work placements at on-site catering venues, gaining valuable real-world experience.

The staff and parent carpark is managed by younger secondary students and staff, providing an opportunity for students to contribute to the event’s operations. Furthermore, students involved in project-based learning often showcase their work at the Field Days, with past projects including the Cookie Cutter Project and the Solar Bench Project.
