Good communication is essential for parents and the school to work together positively, maximizing educational opportunities and ensuring students’ social and emotional wellbeing. Effective communication must be two-way, regular, open, and honest. We strive to keep parents fully informed of events and activities through various channels.
If you have questions or concerns, please contact the appropriate staff member (teaching or non-teaching) promptly. The Principal and Deputy Principal are available to meet with you, provided they do not have prior appointments or teaching commitments. To ensure your suggestions or concerns are thoroughly addressed, we recommend making an appointment by contacting the office.
School Snippets
Snippets is our fortnightly electronic newsletter, designed to highlight recent events and celebrate student achievements. A link to each edition is automatically emailed to parents and carers, and all issues are also available on the website under the ‘News and Events’ tab within the ‘Latest News’ page. If you are not currently receiving Snippets and would like to subscribe, please contact the school office.
Spacetalk Schools
School information will be communicated through the Spacetalk Schools app, so it is important to install this app on your phone. Urgent or very important information will also be emailed. You can use the Spacetalk Schools app to download Snippets, and access other important forms. The app is available for download from the App Store for Apple devices and on Google Play for Android devices.
Compass Education
As we transition our school communication processes, Compass will soon take over from Spacetalk. Compass is a secure, cloud-based platform used widely across Australian schools to manage student attendance and pastoral care information. Delivered through the Department of Education’s Program Kaartdijin, Compass enables parents, carers, and staff to access up-to-date details about student wellbeing and engagement.
From August 20, our school will change the way we send messages about student attendance. We will use Compass SMS to tell you if your child is away from school. For more information, please visit the ‘attendance’ page.
Class Communication
All teachers communicate with parents using the Seesaw app, sharing whole class information, events and updates. The app also allows private communication between teachers and individual parents. Your child’s teacher will direct you how to join the Seesaw app for your child’s class.
Communication with Teachers
Teachers are readily contactable through the Seesaw app or by email. Parents are encouraged to make direct contact with classroom teachers to deal with matters of concern. If you require a face-to-face meeting, please make an appointment through the front office and advise us of the matters you wish to discuss prior to the meeting so we are able to address the issues promptly and professionally. Any parent wishing to discuss concerns regarding their children with the school Principal or Deputy Principal will, in most instances, be expected to have addressed the concerns with the teacher first.
